Jennifer Lawrence The Hunger Games role?

Jennifer Lawrence has landed the coveted lead role in The Hunger Games franchise.

The 20-year-old Oscar nominee will play Katniss Everdeen, a girl who joins a survival contest in order to save her community. The story takes place in the future, where teenagers are chosen at random to participate on the TV show Hunger Games, which forces them to compete to the death.

Lawrence finalized the deal Wednesday, reportedly beating out out fellow actresses Hailee Steinfeld,Chloe Moretz, Emma Roberts and Abigail Breslin for the part.

Lawrence has previously admitted she classes herself as a “redneck”.

“Little redneck things still come out,” Jennifer, who now lives in Los Angeles, told Rolling Stone magazine.

“I’m attracted to my brother. Stuff like that.

“I went through a wood-chopping phase when I was 9 or 10.”
